The TIMBER-DECK™ system is the most economical heavy timber building system and has been used in quality heavy timber structures since 1983. Resembling solid timber construction, but with the span capacities of expensive 4 and 5 inch laminated deck, TIMBER-DECK’s™ factory glued T sections allow for spans to exceed 20 feet.
These long span capabilities allow designers to space arches and support beams wider apart, reducing the basic structure cost of the structural framework. Two inch deck thickness, with general insulation materials, help keep the costs down. Now heavy timber construction can be competitive with less desirable systems.
The TIMBER-DECK™ system is not only cost effective at the beginning of the project, but along its lifespan as well. With insulation values of up to R-65 available, the cavities between the T sections are filled with thick blocks of foam insulation. This isn’t the only feature of the system that makes it energy efficient either. Because TIMBER-DECK™ allows air and moisture to flow on the underside of the roof sheathing, the system breathes freely. This air space reduces the shingle temperature, increases shingle life, and minimizes the telegraphing of joints and surface defects.

Adhering to high standards of quality is one of TIMBER-DECK’s™ trademarks. Wire brushed factory finishes offer the beauty of solid timber construction. The textured surface enhances the depth and warmth of the natural wood grain. A wide variety of colors can also be obtained from the factory.
The pre-finished TIMBER-DECK™ system allows for convenient installation from above. Speeding construction and eliminating the need for scaffolding and hoist equipment, the T construction provides a safe work platform.
The Complete Package
The pre-finished system includes the entire roof structure – decking, structural Ts, sub Ts, purlins, insulation and roof sheathing. Installing a TIMBER-DECK™ system is like building a stress-skin panel in the field. No member weighs in at more than 100 pounds. The open core of the TIMBER-DECK™ allows deep insulation cavities, providing space for electrical conduits and other utilities, recessed lighting, and the ability to add utility runs at a later date without compromising the effectiveness of the insulation.
